Showcasing the Emancipation Proclamation, this exhibit features photos and weaponry depicting life for the African-American soldiers during this period.

Vietnam

We honor African-American soldiers with displays of bravery such as medals and patches. Also included are various maps and photographs from the conflict.

Artillery

View the weaponry and munitions used by the African-American Soldier, including rifles, muskets, and cannonballs pulled directly from battlefields.

WWI & WWII

Learn about the Buffalo Soldiers who served in WWI, and their role in the Boxer Rebellion. View communication devices and helmets of that time, and focuses on the life of the Buffalo Soldier during WWII.

TECH WALL

This wall contains a variety of farming and hand tools, household appliances, health/beauty items. With items spanning generations, this is a tangible look into the past.

REENACTMENT PROGRAM

The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is proud to present these very talented, informative actors and the experiences that they take their audience on. Taking them down the paths of Harriet Tubman and authentic Buffalo Soldiers, they are able to capture the viewer’s attention with their expert storytelling skills. WAYNE DEHART

ACTOR BIO

Wayne performs A Soldier’s Story, a reenactment of the story of a Buffalo Soldier. He has been a mainstay in the Houston Theater scene for more than 25 years. Mr. DeHart’s career spans more than 100 stage productions. He has appeared in such films as “Robocop 2,” “A Perfect World,” and “Looper,” and such television programs as “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Prison Break” and “Breaking Bad.”

JAMES FAULKNER

ACTOR BIO

James is a writer, director-actor and educator. He often performs “The Life of a Buffalo Soldier” for the museum’s patrons. His desire is to produce, create and present positive imagery of the Black experience in the U.S. He is working on a screenplay about the Tenth Cavalry (Post Civil War).
